This is an example of a Nachi robot cell that we designed for the IMTS show in Chicago.  A pullout tray is manually loaded with (9) blanks and then robot loads (1)  blank to be machined. The end-of-arm- tooling (EOAT) is double tooled so that the robot loads a blank into the Brother Machine after picking up the completed part to be deposited back into the tray.

You can view a one-cycle video (VIDEO #2) on our HOME PAGE showing the Robot in action.

Here is one of the design sheets that was created for the Nachi robot cell.

Note:  In addition to a complete set of drawings, an articulation robot study was included to confirm the movements and clearances that were needed, both for picking up each of the nine blanks and loading them into the Brother  CNC machining "PART CHUCK".

You can view a one-cycle video  (VIDEO #2) on our HOME PAGE showing this Robots articulations.

Automatic Assembly Machines

Automatic Assembly Machines

This is just one example of an Automatic Assembly Machine that we designed for Fisher Dynamics to assemble a plastic hub with a seat recliner sub assemby.

After manual loading, this machine auto assembles and auto unloads the completed part assembly onto a gravity chute.

PROductive Engineering has been designing Automatic Assembly Machines,

Testing Equipment, Prototype Fixtures and more for Fisher Dynamics in the last 25 years or so, both directly for Fisher and also through other companies such Feedrite Automation, Diversitech, and others.

Whether the project is a stand-alone machine or a complex Single Station from a Dial Machine or a Precision Link System, PROductive Engineering always came through with great ideas and innovative designs.

Adjustable Resistance Welding

For several years now we have designed special resistance welding machines with many innovative features for companies like Tipaloy Inc.

This back-to-back double Door Frame Welding Machine has adjustable "C" frames on both ends to accommodate many different length door frames.

By designing these "C" frames utilizing ball bushings on shafts to carry the weight, these large "C" frames are easily moved by turning a crank handle to a new desired position. Since the "C" frame forces are self contained within the frame itself, none of the welding forces are transmitted to the bushings or shafts.

With the back-to-back design, two operators can produce different length frames at the same time or double the production rate of the same frame.

Also designed for Tipaloy Inc. is a "NEW" Double Fixtured Machine product that in this example Auto Loads and welds two projection nuts at the same time and then simultaneously auto unloads both completed assemblies, to in effect double the production rate.

You can see a closer view of the right side of this machine just below.

You can also view a short video on our HOME PAGE  (VIDEO #4) showing the right side only, welding then auto unloading the finished product into a part bin.

Important Engineering Note:

The auto unloader is designed to first, lift the nut vertically 1" off  of the part "LOCATING PIN", then rotates the gravity feed track to the unload angle, thus providing two completely separate motions actuated by only one air cylinder.

Stress Analysis

When we need to know that a particular structurue can accomodate a required load such as this "C" frame that was designed for Fisher Dynamics, we rely on Stress Analysis programs like the one above.

This Large "C" frame was designed for (1) pressing station on an (8) station dial machine that we designed to set a gap in a "Heart Assembly" for a seat recliner. The frame was designed to withstand the force of an 8 ton Hypercyl.

RAPID Loader

RAPID Loader

Check out this pick & place system designed by PROductive Engineering.

This Rapid loader  feeds "Projection Nuts" from a vibratory bowl onto a mini conveyor, which in turn escapes each part upwards. Then, the  pick & place unit loads the part onto a simulated Locating Pin that would be inside the die. It loads at the FAST rate of one part per second.
